Sheridan

Within Sheridan Wyoming's historic setting is a region rich in culture. Visitors to Sheridan WY in the summer should head to scenic Kendrick Park on Tuesday evenings for the once per week Concert in the Park series. Come early; the whole family will enjoy the beautiful environment.

On the way, be certain to watch for diverse public sculptures displayed in the Main Street area. This Art on the Plaza exhibit is a continuing display expanded each June during Celebrate the Arts Month.

Sheridan's Cowboy InheritanceInheritance

Throughout the year in Sheridan, cowboys keep rodeo fever alive with weekly rodeos and roping competitions. It all finishes each July at the Sheridan WYO Rodeo, a one week celebration of the region's cowboy heritage.

Another good example of modern Western excitement is Don King Days in September. Top quality cow hands compete in roping, riding and even polo (a favourite local sport) to honor the founder of historic King's Saddlery.

To immerse yourself completely in Western lore, plan to visit the Sagebrush Cowboy Gathering each February. Cowboy musicians, poets and storytellers will thrill with stories of the Wild West. There's something for every age range, including a kid's poetry contest.

Museums, shops and galleries across the Sheridan WY area continue to commemorate the area's rugged Western history. Look for excellent examples of leather and silver work, particularly.
